Bus shelters in Honiton

Honiton Town Council owns 6 of the 14 bus shelters within Honiton. The balance are owned by Fernbank, which is responsible for the upkeep of all the shelters in town.

Some of the shelters have been fitted with Eco Living Roofs, these are comprised of 16 varieties of low maintenance plants, primarily sedum which flower from March to October. There are several benefits of this; firstly the sedum roof has a cooling effect on the shelter, it helps store water therefore reducing rainwater run-off, sequester additional carbon, filter out pollutants and improve air quality. This in turn provides a vital resource for our pollinating insects and other fauna.

The remaining shelters without sedum roofs are on a schedule to be updated and installed by 2026.

Dependent on site surveys, two additional shelters are proposed for the Heathpark Industrial Estate, it is hoped they will be installed by 2027.
