Markets & Shopping

Take the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of a lively street market at the heart of one of the West Country’s most enduring market towns.

Markets have contributed to the vibrancy and appeal of Honiton since the granting of our charter in 1257.

Every Tuesday and Saturday stalls offer fresh produce, flowers and plants, clothing, jewellery, bric-a-brac, crafts and antiques

And on every Thursday from April to December a variety of different markets are available – including local traders and produce, antiques and collectables, overseas produce. See our calendar of markets for full details.

If you are tired of the same old cloned High Street, then the name you need for your shopping is Honiton.

One of the best features of the town is the abundance of independent shops. Quality butchers, bakers, delicatessen and fishmongers are still very much a part of Honiton today, selling locally produced food, and sitting alongside shops with a wide range of goods, including the town’s famous antique shops.

The fine High Street is a noted asset of the town. Wide enough to allow parking on both sides and lined with Georgian buildings, many of which are former coaching inns, it is supplemented by a number of small courtyards and alleyways.

Further shopping is available on the Business Park to the west of the town.
