THE SIDEKICK BUDDYING PROJECT
Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and contribute to the local community. However, some people lack the confidence to volunteer, perhaps because they are vulnerable, isolated or have specific needs. Sidekick Buddies provide support across
WHO CAN BE A VOLUNTEER BUDDY?
- A Volunteer Buddy needs to be supportive, non-judgemental, patient, understanding, friendly, sociable and reliable with a great sense of humour.
- They will be open to learning new skills and prepared to undergo training.
- A Buddy will be able to offer a regular time commitment (a few hours, once a week).
- They will agree to undergo a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check and be willing to adhere to EDVSA policies and the Sidekick code of practice.
WHO CAN BE A SUPPORTED VOLUNTEER?
Sidekick is happy to talk to anyone who thinks that they would like to get involved in volunteering, but would like some support to do so. You should be well enough to take part in a volunteering placement once a week and be willing to learn new skills with a view to volunteering independently.
